It’s Tax Day, y’all!

Well, not really. At least not this year. Apparently this year, Tax Day falls on 18 April. Why you ask? well, seems Emancipation Day – a very important but little known holiday – falls on 16 April and thus government offices are closed today. Which is swell… since I have not even started thinking about filing my taxes yet. (Just cashed my 2009 return last week. Slack.)

I have been told that Americans living abroad get an automatic extension until 15 October each year. Here’s hoping.

P.S. To those of you thinking of moving abroad – dealing with two governments does not ‘double your pleasure, double your fun’.

Oh and by the way, did I mention my use of y’all was meant to be ironic? It was. (Because I’m American. Get it? Ha.)
